The well-known German company Max Bögl Wind has built the world’s highest wind turbine. The height of the tower is 178 meters, and the total with the shovels is 264.5 meters. The wind turbine is a record holder located near Stuttgart. Representatives of the company assert that each meter of the wind turbine increases the efficiency of work by almost 1%. This was made possible by more powerful wind currents and reduced turbulent whirls. Previously, we already wrote about another amazing wind turbine.
The design of the wind installation from Max Bögl Wind
In the future, it is planned to build three more wind turbines, which will have a smaller height, and their towers will reach 155 meters. All windmills will have the same generators with a capacity of 3.4 MW, that is, total capacity will be 13.6 MW. Every year, the entire system will be able to produce 10500 MWh. The wind power factor is likely to be 34.4%.
It is worth noting that the project does not differ in the stability of generation, but the developers have solved this problem with the help of “water system of energy accumulation.” What does it mean? The water tower, 40 meters high, serves as a repository. Excess energy will be used to pump water into the tower, if necessary; the water will descend through the blade of hydro generators. The water tower is designed to hold up to 70 MWh. Experts believe that the new water-supply system will have a significantly higher energy efficiency index. It is noted that the system will be fast and will be able to switch between the accumulation and production mode for a quality of 30 seconds.
The cost of the project is 70 million euros, the payback period is 11 years (6,5 million euro of income annually). The wind turbine will start work this year.
Max Bögl Wind always competes with Danish company Vestas. The last plans to install a prototype of a windmill with a construction LDST (tower of large diameter steel) and a height is 241 meters. In the future, windmills will compete in height with skyscrapers.
