“Green” tariff is a special system, according to which the energy generated by renewable sources has a tariff higher than the fixed tariff. The introduction of a tariff by the state is a powerful stimulator of investment in innovative technologies. The purchase of kilowatt-hours using the “green” tariff makes it possible significantly reduce the time for which alternative projects fully pay off. This fact increases the investment attractiveness.

The questions that most often arise regarding household SES and taxation are:

  1. Who pays for the energy generated by the solar station? What is the role of the state in this matter?

The supplier of energy (in the realities of our country – oblenergo) is obliged to pay for the electricity generated and supplied to the whole network from a private SES. Initially, an agreement is conclude with this organization on the purchase / sale of electricity after the commissioning of a solar power plant. The function of the state is to provide guarantees for the purchase of electricity on a “green” tariff in the agreed time and in the maximum amount.

  1. What kind of payment do I get for the generated kilowatt?

The generation of one kilowatt of green energy is pay in national currency (hryvnia). This amount is equivalent to 18 eurocents per kilowatt-hour. This applies to SES, which were putting into operation from 1.01.2017 to 31.12.2019. The euro exchange rate directly affects the “green” tariff; therefore, each quarter is updated cost. The first quarter of this year for private SES had a tariff of 5 UAH 87 kopecks per kilowatt-hour. This indicator was relevant before taxation.

You can get information about the current tariffs for all alternative installations using the official website of NCREP.

  1. How and where will I be charge on the sale of green kilowatts?

The revenue from the sale of electricity to the general network goes to a personal bank account. Its owner SES opens himself in a suitable bank. The account number is indicate in the electricity purchase / sale agreement.

  1. How much interest will I pay as a tax?

The current legislation stipulates that the money received by the owner of a home SES from the sale of electricity be subject to taxation on general grounds. The income tax for individuals is 18 percent. In addition, a military charge of 1.5 percent is also paid. As a result, 19.5 percent is obtain.

  1. How do you pay taxes?

The owner of the home SES does not pay taxes personally. The energy supplier acts simultaneously as a tax agent, so the accrual of monetary funds occurs already with the deduction of the tax rate. Personal funds are transfer to a personal account, of which 19.5 percent of the tax was already deduct.

  1. What about the payment of taxes for individual entrepreneurs who are on a simplified taxation system? Do they also pay 19.5%?

In this issue, only the presence of a house or apartment that is own by a person who has concluded an agreement on the purchase / sale of electricity is take into account. Thus, an individual entrepreneur acts as a private individual and pays a tax charge of 19.5 percent.

  1. How much net profit can I get from SES with a capacity of 10 kilowatts?

Let us say that a solar station of this capacity was able to produce 11,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity during the year. Energy consumption at home for 12 months – about 3 thousand kilowatt-hours (if you start from an average of 250 kWh per month).

According to the “green” tariff, 8,000 kilowatt hours (11,000 (generation) – 3,000 (household energy consumption) = 8,000) were sold. The price for 1 kilowatt-hour is 18 eurocents. By simple calculations, we get the sum of 1440 euros. With a tax charge of 19.5%, a net profit of 1159 euros is issue.
